Rural Water Supply Programme (BALB)

Rural Water Supply Programme has been implemented under the Accelerated Rural Water Supply (ARWS) in the Second Malaysia Plan (RMK-2) (1971 to 1975) and continues up to 11th Malaysia Plan.

The main goal and objective of the Rural Water Supply Programme is to provide and expand the coverage of clean and treated water in order to enhance a good quality of life in rural areas throughout the country with a target of 90%.

To achieve this goal, the Ministry in collaboration with all agencies will continue with their ongoing research and studies in order to ensure the clean and treated water can be supplied to widely areas, prompt and good quality services to the rural communities.

In 2015, the Rural Water Supply Programme has received an allocation of RM310,220,000.00 and was able to spend as much as RM302,990,266.50 (97.67%).
