The Infodesa Programme (PID) is a systematic and integrated effort to instil and promote rural ICT to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas. This programme is formulated specifically to achieve the objective of MRRD in ensuring rural community gain 100% benefit from ICT. The main aims of this programme are:

  • To promote the appreciation of the knowledge culture among rural community via ICT mediums
  • To widen community interaction via ICT mediums
  • To transform MID into a local ICT training centre
  • To transform the MID into a catalyst for personal computer (PC) ownership
  • To establish ICT entrepreneurship activities
  • To transform MID into an interaction gateway for all of the users’ activities
  • To develop a rural information database network
  • To develop e-Community among the rural communities
  • To contribute towards e-government
