RIDA was positioned under KPNLB to encourage and modernise rural industries as well as to market products from rural areas, KEMAS was established

A Special Committee was established by KPNLB to review the role and organisational structure of FELDA

The ‘RED Book’ was launched to plan, coordinate and monitor rural development projects

KPNLB’s National Development Operation Room or ‘Bilik Gerakan Kemajuan Kebangsaan’ was officiated by Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, as a centre to coordinate the execution of projects and gather feedback.

State Development Offices (SDO) were established and placed under the authority of KPNLB to intensify rural development

KPNLB was dissolved and its agencies were transferred to other Ministries

KPNLB was renamed the Ministry of Rural Development or ‘Kementerian Pembangunan Luar Bandar’ (KPLB). Local development authorities (KEJORA, KETENGAH, PERDA, KEDA, KESEDAR, DARA dan LKWJ) and land development authorities (RISDA dan FELCRA) were positioned under KPLB

FELDA and JHEOA were removed from KPLB to be positioned under different authorities
1994
The New Philosophy & Strategy for Rural Development or ‘Falsafah & Strategi Baru Pembangunan Luar Bandar’ (FSBPLB) was launched as a rural development road-map towards 2020.

-KPLB was renamed as the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development or ‘Kementerian Kemajuan Luar Bandar dan Wilayah’ (KKLW) and three more agencies were positioned under the Ministry, namely the Sarawak Land Development Board, the Bintulu Development Authority and the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority or (SALCRA)-The Eradication of Poverty programme was transferred to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government
